Reefy Micro Finance Enterprise Services, based in Cairo, is a prominent microfinance institution in Egypt, established in 2007. It focuses on providing financial services to unbanked individuals and small businesses, particularly in non-urban areas. Reefy was the first company in Egypt to receive a microfinance license from the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority. Reefy offers individual and group lending services tailored to micro-sized companies, excluding agriculture and transport. These services support small-scale entrepreneurs in expanding their operations. With over 154 branches across 20 governorates, Reefy serves both rural and urban communities. The institution has a dedicated team of around 2,500 staff members and maintains a high repayment rate of over 99%. In 2023, Reefy secured a loan agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to further support youth-owned micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.
