The BACIM (Banque pour le Commerce et lAoInvestissement en Mauritanie) was set up at the end of 2001. Its capital increased significantly following the acquisition of the bank in 2008 by the private equity firm ECP and is currently 6,921,350,000 ouguiya. Thanks to this takeover (an initial acquisition of 85% of share capital, subsequently rising to over 97%) and the recapitalisation process initiated by ECP, the BACIM is starting to return to normal operations within its local market. The BACIM has 66 members of staff and 4 branches, including 2 located in Nouakchott (central and SOCIM market branches), one in Nouadhibou (the countryAos economic capital) and one in Nma 1200km to the east. The BACIM is a commercial bank whose operations are primarily focussed on private individuals, professionals, SMEs, businesses and local authorities. The BACIM offers a wide range of banking products and services that have enabled it to build on its loyal customer base and attract new customers. Thanks to its excellent customer care and efficient processing of loan applications it stands as an example of modern banking, while the variety of services that it offers have helped to make it a bank for all. The BACIM was renamed Orabank Mauritania on 30 September 2012 as the final step in Orabank GroupAos re-branding campaign.
