Educational Employees Credit Union (EECU) was established in 1934 by a group of educators to provide affordable financial services to the educational community. Originally named Fresno Teachers Credit Union, it was renamed in 1981 to reflect its expanded membership. EECU is now the largest locally-based credit union in California's central San Joaquin Valley, serving over 377,000 members with assets exceeding $4.6 billion as of September 2024. EECU offers a variety of services, including free checking accounts, high-yield savings, competitive home loans, and Visa credit cards. Members can access digital banking services, including online and mobile banking, and utilize over 30,000 CO-OP ATMs nationwide. The credit union primarily serves educational employees and has broadened its membership to include select organizations across 12 California counties.
